Maslow's Hierarchy of Employee Engagement

Most all of us are familiar with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: we need to be warm and safe before we can develop and grow, but how do they relate to employee engagement? Well, the same theory can be used to look at our work life. If we are struggling in the Security or worse yet Survival zone “I just need the money” of the pyramid, our work engagement is by basically zilch! Importance and Belonging are the zones where you’re engaging on a productive level because you feel part of something bigger, you’re valued and you know your contribution is seen as important. We know you are ambitious and want to move forward so the important role of the company is to harness that and facilitate your individual growth. Meeting your Self-Actualization needs will enable you to be highly successful and become a valuable asset to your company, inspiring others along the way.
